I am currently a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Victoria's Peter B. Gustavson School of Business. My primary research interests span a variety of topics in international trade and industrial organization. I focus on the behaviour of firms involved in international trade and the factors affecting the organizational structures they adopt. I also have research interest in development economics and open economy macroeconomic topics in developing and emerging economies.
My doctoral thesis entitled “Three Essays on the Economics of International Firms” examined the role of uncertainty and unequal bargaining power as factors affecting the organizational structures adopted by firms. It also examined how outsourcing and offshoring affect the decision of the firm to export its final output. I am currently working with Dr. Basma Majerbi on “Financial Systems Architecture and Macro-financial Stability”. This project involves developing a new index of financial system diversity and also defining a measure of financial stability that is more inclusive.
